Serengeti Migration

Thrilling, Breathtaking, Unforgettable

Each year, the Serengeti erupts with life as millions of wildebeest, zebra, eland, and Thomson’s gazelle set out on one of the planet’s most extraordinary natural journeys — the Great Migration. This epic trek, driven by the search for fresh grazing and water, spans over 30,000 square kilometres, crossing Tanzania’s Serengeti and Ngorongoro Conservation Area before reaching Kenya’s Masai Mara.

For roughly ten months of the year, the migration takes place within Tanzania, with some herds calling the Serengeti home year-round. From the golden grasslands to the dramatic river crossings, every stage of this odyssey offers a front-row seat to nature’s raw beauty and relentless rhythm. At certain times, this spectacle unfolds right outside Serengeti Simba Lodge and Arukore Simba Camp, with the Great Migration only a window’s glance away.
