Simba Portfolio Lodges & Camps were the inspiration of a third-generation Tanzanian Sikh family from Moshi. While the family history is one of timber, furniture making, and transport; their commitment to Tanzania and the exceptional wildlife and wilderness it harbors, along with a genuine love of the bush, led to the concept of beautifully designed lodges offering excellent service and standards at a reasonable price point in some of Tanzania’s most sought after safari destinations.
Five brothers of the Mudher-Bhamra family man the board and determine the direction of the organization.
Keeping abreast of the latest trends in the hospitality industry and working together with the government agencies and communities wherein the lodges are located they are dedicated to providing an exceptional hospitality and wilderness experience for guests at the lodges
At Simba Portfolio Lodges & Camps, our success story is crafted by the passion and dedication of our remarkable team. From managing marketing and operations to the warm and hospitable staff at our lodges, every member is integral in delivering unforgettable experiences to our guests.
In keeping with our corporate policy of eco-tourism and responsible tourism, most people staffing our lodges come from nearby communities. The International Eco Tourism Society defines eco-tourism as “responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people.” Our relationship with the villages and rural areas surrounding our lodges has been strengthened by our decision to recruit, train, and hire people from our neighbourhoods.
At Karatu Simba Lodge, our team is not just dedicated to providing exceptional hospitality; they’re also a vibrant, active bunch. We’re proud to boast a football team comprising our very own staff, who regularly compete against local teams. And guess what? They’ve emerged victorious on numerous occasions, showcasing their prowess and teamwork both on and off the field. So when you stay with us, you’re not just greeted by friendly faces but by a team of energetic individuals who know how to tackle challenges, both in the lodge and on the pitch.
At our lodges, social responsibility is at the heart of everything we do. We also strive to assist with local projects and needs such as schools and clinics wherever possible. In return our employees keep us apprised of situations and conditions in the community that may impact our business. In this way, we are partnering with our workers and local government as contributing citizens and fostering the real spirit of responsible tourism. In the Serengeti, we actively support local schools like Robanda Secondary and Primary School, providing essential resources and financial assistance to foster education. Additionally, we stand by Robanda Dispensary, ensuring access to quality healthcare for the community.
“In Tarangire, water scarcity is a pressing issue for the villagers. Recognizing this challenge, we’ve installed a borehole to provide free, clean water to the community. This initiative underscores our commitment to supporting local livelihoods and addressing essential needs beyond our lodge’s boundaries. By ensuring access to safe drinking water, we strive to make a meaningful impact on the well-being of Tarangire’s residents.”
